Ineed an opinion

I have a 1972 custom/10, and i'm getting ready to put a 1967 bed on it.(mine is trashed and it is all I could find in my area) I was wanting to know your thoughts on these 3 Ideas.
1. Should I leave it looking like a 67 bed without side lights.
2. Should or could I just drill the hole for the side light socket and mounting screws. Not sure how bad it would look.
3. Should I have peices welded in to mount the side lights. If this is what you think, does anyone have a junk bed they could cut the areas out of for me. I need to leave the other bed intact until the new on is ready.

I need to know this because the body man is close to having it ready to paint

Thanks for all of the help. Travis

I would put the rear marker lights in or fill in the front marker lights. I don't think it would look right with just the front ones. Good Luck.

just my opinion here....but i would fill the front marker lights....looks cool and lots less work than trying to cut out light sections from another bed and then welding them back in.

Good Luck

Opinions? Oh, we've got PLENTY of them around here

I'm with Shane... you should shave the fronts. Aside from the fact that I think that just looks better, adding rears would be a pretty big task as it's not simply a matter of cutting a hole. The trailing edge of the rear sheetmetal openings have a pronounced lip that would be conspicuous in its absence.

Now, you asked for it!

I've got TWO opinions, so here's no. 1: Fill in the front holes so the side of the truck is clean.

Here's no. 2: IF you have to have side markers, i.e., legalities prevail, I vote for using the marker lights from a 68-69 Chrysler Corporation vehicle. They were small and round. Very laid-back looking.

IF yours are like mine (on a '69), they don't work....they're only reflectors.

Shave the front marker lights. They look a little more stealth without them.

You asked. So here it goes.
I would do like the others say.
I would leave the bed the way it is and fill (shave) the front lights / markers on the fenders.
Can't beat that smooth sided look!

Well if you would have posted this a couple months ago I would have asked where you are? Would you wanna swap beds? I just filled in the marker lights on my bed. Actually it wouldn't be any more difficult to install marker lights than to shave them. Just make a hole and put in the bezel for the light. Still have to weld about the same amount and run the same risk of warping the sheetmetal. So the real question is do you like sidemarkers or do you like it shaved. I think only 67's look right without and the rest look good with.

Shave it, its your truck do what you like. Who cares what others like. I used to knock weird lookin rides in my opinion, until I realized it only matters if the driver likes it

Find someone in need of a 67 bed and swap for a later bed- or shave the front.
