Somebody please save it

Saw this on craigslist, almost cried. I don't have the room but I would love to have it, patina looks perfect.

You need to make the room! I'd be all over that one if it was in my town. It looks really straight and solid from the pics.

Re: Somebody please save it

It looks like maybe some rust in the drivers side rocker but nothin to bad. The fact that it's at an auto salvage yard just makes me cringe thinking of this old girl getting parted and eventually crushed

If it were a shortbed, I'd make the 4 hr trek in a hurry. Do you know what they're wanting for it?

Re: Somebody please save it

Custom, or no? It has the front chrome trim but no chrome around the front windshield trim. No Custom emblems on the doors .. Humm. Looks like chrome wing windows .. Bench seat (no buddies as far as I can tell)

It might be one to do a cab swap to SWB frame (?)

Re: Somebody please save it

Gave them a call this morning. Guy said it's a plane jane 68, no rare options but it's pretty straight and not to bad on rust. There's no title but they will give you a bill of sale. 800 bucks

some states dont require a title for a truck that old. a bill of sale would be good enough

Re: Somebody please save it

I would asking them what it would cost with a title. I mean, they are a salvage yard and should have the ability to get a title for it.

Re: Somebody please save it

Joe and all,

I asked the tag office this question about titles. She wispered to me that if you are getting the bill of sale from another state... then you will be given a new title from this state (Kansas). As long as that truck was never registered in this state then there is no record of the Vin...Hmmmm
Only thing to consider I guess is that you will need to get it inspected in the new state. In Kansas (my experience with my trucks) all they do is verify the rosette rivets with the BOS and try to confirm the fram serial number. If its painted and redone they send you to an "expert" that verifies the correctness of the vehicle. Just my experience here though.

Oh, short bed smort bed. Mark my words. This short bed craze one day will be over, and you'll wish you had this truck. And, from the looks of your second post, I see you're reconsidering.

It's like anything else. Fads come and go, and once enough long beds have been chopped to short beds, and the market is saturated with short beds by comparison, people will want to be "different", so long beds will be the craze. I could care less about crazes with this. I like the functionality and look of my long bed. I just find it interesting

I think the whole shortbed vs longbed thing is for high schoolers. Get over it. I drive a truck.

I think it's just a matter of opinion. It's not like anyone is wrong. Some people like longbeds cause you can haul more material, some like shortbeds cause they are easier to fit in a garage. 50bomb is right, we all love classic trucks so stop telling each other who is wrong or right and drive your truck

It is not simply a fad...its just the way it is. People have been "cutting down" vehicles of all sorts for a loooong time. 67-72 trucks are pretty much past their point as "work trucks" (there still are some, but not many by comparison to newer trucks) and as such are primarily used for pleasure now. I like the functionality of a longbed (that's why I own a newer one)...just isn't practical for me when it comes to 67-72 trucks. Buy what you like, drive what you like, that's all that matters.
