I have aquestion about 67 E-brake

I am trying to use a 67 e-brake on my 67 cab that i have set on a 72 4-wheel drive frame, right now the cable is too short out of the cab and not in the same place as a 72 cab would normally be. Has any body ever adapted there's to work and if so what did you have to do. I have thought about this for weeks and getting no where. Ok i have'nt really thought that hard on it. I wonder if 67-72 cables connect the same way inside the cabs on the handle type or foot lever type. Thanks
