fuel neck grommet

Can anyone help me with this? I've bought a new fuel neck grommet but it doesn't look like the original. I went to the chevy dealer and they got one for me but it looks like this other aftermarket grommet. I want one that looks original!! Does anyone sell one like the one on the left?

I'm thinkin' the one on the left looks that way due to age. It probably looked like the one on the right 30 years ago. But I could be wrong.

Thumbs up

The original fuel neck grommet on left is part #3978799 for use on 71-72 trucks, your GM dealer ordered you part #3886792 for use on 67-70 trucks.
So take the first one back and order a #3978799

On a related note, can these be changed without pulling the tank?

I installed the one on the right side of the picture with the tank in place. It left about 1/8" gap around my filler tube too. That's why I want the correct grommet.

Thanks GMCPaul! Odd that a grommet for a 71-72 truck would be on my 70 model...
