Glove box install

anyone have any tips/pointers on installing a glove box liner in my 70 c10 with AC.Looks like i will have to remove some of the heater components.
anyone done this with tips,talk to me before i tear into this thing this weekend.

take the glove box door off scrunch up the liner and jam it straight into the hole

Take the glove box door off and lay the liner on the seat. Now, drive real fast and then hit the brakes hard. The liner should just pop right in to the hole.

Yep, just distort it till it pops in and then screw it off. It will take its shape back.

This liner is kinda hard and doesn't flex much....i tried to push it in....not sure that will work

trust them vince it will go, just push, and if that doesnt work, push more, naww really it will go just as the others said

I put mine in the truck in ten minutes and only had to bend it a little...course I don't have air, so it was easier.

Air trucks are a pita due to all the crap in the back. If you fold down the top of the box with kind of a crease front to back, you can get it in. No simple way--you just got to force the fit. Kind of like a controlled crush install.

I got it in in 2 minutes this evening..lol Of course I had 2 beers before I started..lol
I put the side facing the steering wheel in first and then pushed it in until the other side pooped in.Screwed the glove box door back on and sunk in the other 4 screws and blamo.....I have a place to store my stuff.It just isn't much space but better than my dash.
Now to replace a few gauge cluster bulbs sunday before the Race!!

Anybody have a pic of the screws that are supposed to hold the liner in? Or a link to what they're supposed to look like?

I bought a new liner, but when I went to install it I realized that the screws were missing too. I'm sure I could find some, but on the off chance that they're special...

Well I was looking back through the archives to find what I could about replacing the cardboard glove box insert, but when I found that suggestion I just couldn't go there! lol

But I found what I wanted, which amounts to permission to just horse it in there, and it worked out ok. BTW my username comes from the fact that I haven't worked on a car or truck since the 1970's ... replacing the glove box for me is like shortening a longbed for some of you guys!



By the way, what's this piece (below)? It was laying loose over the top of the a/c...

I haven't had my glove box out but I'm betting it was mounted to a dash tab or the firewall instead of the 'grounding' set up you have...

Hey guys,
I'm bringing this back from the dead, but I figured it bset to ask here, where others that search will find it, instead of starting a new thread. In the above pic, the liner is outside the tab on the left. Does the liner remain outside of all four tabs (L, R, Top & Bottom) or is it something weird like outside of the side tabs and inside of the top and bottom tabs? Seems fairly obvious that it would go out do side of all, but at the same time, it seems like it should get sandwiched by the glove box hinge. Thanks!

I just installed mine. Outside on sides and top. On the bottom it is on top and the hinge goes on the liner. then screws to sandwich the liner in..

That's how my old rotted one was before I replaced it last week and installed a new light. Swapped the clips on to the liner and I think it just looks cleaner this way. And since I greased the button I don't even have to push it all the way in and it opens every time.

Awesome. Thank you! This is what I ended up doing while awaiting a response. I'm glad that I pit it together the right way. I had also considered swapping the clips to the liner, but I pictured them ripping the cardboard when trying to remove it in the future. Oh well, the liners are cheap enough. I was thinking about taking my liner back out, taking it apart (unfolding it), tracong the pattern onto some 16ga aluminum and bending it up on the brake. But, maybe have it go in as two pieces, then rivet it together in place. Would be a bit more permanent. If I end up getting motivated enough, I'll post pictures of it. Anyway, as always, thanks for the help, guys!
