inner fender/rad support paint question

gents, getting ready to replace the ol chrome stuff the po put under the hood with some original steel i picked up at a swap meet some time back.

now that's it's time to do it, I find I have a question. Was the black stuff under the hood (i.e. the radiator support panels, the inner fenders, etc etc gloss black, semi-gloss, or were some parts semi-gloss and some parts full gloss (a mix).

the po had some pretty high gloss on the inner fenders and area around the hinge supports etc and it just doesn't seem quite right. But I'm not going to be repainting EVERYthing under the hood yet - maybe later when i yank the motor, but for now, just getting rid of the out of place chrome the po had in there. thanks.
