Anyone using a reproduction bumper?

I've had some bad luck with LMC bumpers in the past, Bad fitment, **** finish, and chrome pealing is just the beginning.

I need to get a new chrome front bumper for my 84'. I was really looking for a factory bumper, but it looks like I may have to go with a reproduction.

Has anybody had any luck with reproduction bumpers? Please mention where you bought them.

Re: Anyone using a reproduction bumper?

I too would like to know about this.

I want a white factory/repop rear bumper, and if anyone has a line on such a thing, I'd be thrilled to know where to get it.

My current rear-bumper is a dealer-installed diamond-plate monster, and I'd lose it, though I'd probably get rear-ended the next day...

Have front and rear from here. I've been pretty happy with them.

NPD just released their Chevy truck catalog, they have a decent selection. With the prices so low it makes me doubt the quality though.

Re: Anyone using a reproduction bumper?

I have recently purchased bumpers from LMC with no problems. I did purchase the "premium" bumper instead of the cheaper ones. Fitment was good and chrome looks great. I've also ordered many other parts from them with no problems either, maybe I'm lucky. I guess I have the understanding there will be some Massaging of parts to get the right fitment.

Re: Anyone using a reproduction bumper?

I bought a "triple nickle plated" bumper for my old 69 C10 from Kenny's Trucks in Oklahoma 15 years ago, and it still looks good!

I don't think they sell square body parts, but you might want to ask them who they get the nice bumpers from. http://www.kennystrucks.com/Contact.asp

I also see where LMC has a 5-year warranty on their premium bumper.

Good to here someone had good luck with LMC bumpers, might end up going the same route as you considering your luck. The bumpers I've bought were not for this generation of truck, they were for my daily driver F150, maybe sourced from a different company?

Re: Anyone using a reproduction bumper?

I also had good luck with the LMC bumper. It was for a friends 85(not mine). It was the premium one. But the truck is garaged at all times and it might have 150 miles in the last 7 years.

Re: Anyone using a reproduction bumper?

I purchased a new LMC for my 83, seems a lot thinner steel than factor bumper.

Would love to have my original re-chromed , but I'm sure cost would be outrageous.

Re: Anyone using a reproduction bumper?

I'm wondering if anybody has weighed the LMC bumpers to see if they are lighter than the factory ones? I'm probably in the minority in that I'm looking to take off as much weight in the front end as possible. I also want a chrome, OE look so the fibreglass ones are out for me.

Re: Anyone using a reproduction bumper?

I got the LMC one with the fog lamps. Identical to stock except for the fog lamp cutouts. I used metal polish on it (Mother's, I think) and then waxed it when I put it on a year+ ago. No problems.

Re: Anyone using a reproduction bumper?

For a step side rear bumper, I got a reproduction sport bumper from Southern Kentucky Classics, and like it. They generally do not sell parts for 73 to 87, however, the SS rear bumpers are the same.
