Dumb question what is the best car Window Cleaner

I clean my front windshield and think it is clean only to get into truck in the morning and see splotches and streaks everywhere. I have used regular Windex and the ammonia stuff only to have the same problem. With fall in the air window blotches and streaks look even worse

Re: Dumb question what is the best car Window Cleaner

A big key is the cleanliness of the cloth / paper towel. A dirty towel = dirty glass. Use one to wipe and a 2nd to dry. Maybe even a 3rd or 4th drying towel. The stuff you are wiping off is dirty. Once the towel is damp with the dirty stuff, you are just spreading the dirt around.

Re: Dumb question what is the best car Window Cleaner

I use Windex or Sprayway, though I've found that a wet microfiber cloth to clean and a paper towel to dry is a pretty effective combination. Cheap, too.

I've used the GM stuff for the last twenty years, even around the house. It's the only cleaner I've used that doesn't leave streaks.

I've used Sprayway since the mid 70's. Always been happy with it.

This
It’s ammonia free that also doesn’t affect or ruin window tinting film.

My mother taught me the newspaper trick when I was younger cleaning the sliding glass door at the house....no streaks.

I also still use it today with Sprayway Ammonia Free glass cleaner. I hit it with a lint free rag first to remove the bugs etc then again with the newspaper to a streakless windshield inside and out.

x3 on the newspaper. This is the key, what cleaner you use isn't as important as the newspaper.

Re: Dumb question what is the best car Window Cleaner

Sprayway or Invisible Glass here. But, I also use either a microfiber towel washed with no fabric softener or thicker paper towels. On the inside of the glass, I find it is best to follow up with another clean, dry cloth as a final wipe.

Re: Dumb question what is the best car Window Cleaner

I use AMSOIL glass cleaner on the vehicles and throughout the house. Foams up and doesn't run or leave streaks.

Dow GC-800 is what we've used at our glass shop for decades. Haven't found anything better.
