Question Barn find

I just drug a 69 C20 out of a barn that has been partially through a motor change for 30 years. It is a 3 on the tree with bucket seats. I has a 230 setting in it that was supposed to be a good motor. The transmission is not in it but I do have it and most of the other parts including the original 250. I drug it home with the intention of using parts I have left from my Suburban project to get it on the road and sell it. My wife thinks I am crazy and will end up putting money in it I will never get back and therefore should just sell it as it sits. The body is straight except the drivers door, the rockers are completely shot and it has rust around the rear wheel wells and surface rust all over the place.
Does anyone have any input about what it is realistically worth as is sits or in running condition with aluminum wheels with fair tires on them? I am trying to decide if it is worth fighting with her about.
Peace
Kent

Re: Barn find

I'm not totally agreeing with your wife, but I will say it's easy to sink more money into a project like this than you can get out of it. If you want to put some work into the analysis, you can research how much trucks of a similar age and whatever condition you intend to restore it to are selling for. Look at local ads or eBay, but you have to try to determine what price they actually sell for, not the asking price. Then look at what you'll have to do to get the truck into that condition. And don't forget to account for your time.

It may be best from a financial standpoint to do the minimum to get the truck running and then sell it.

Re: Barn find

Yep, get it running and flip it. And.....never fight with a woman, you can't win.
