Well, I got a little lucky. I was hanging out at a friends shop, drinking beers while he was building an engine and one of his vendors showed up with some parts. "Who owns that Blazer outside?" After introductions he tells me he's got a Blazer sitting in the yard at his shop that he needs $600 bucks for. Went by today and this is what he was talking about.

It's a Jimmy that someone started restoring and never finished, but almost every bit of rust you see in the photos is just surface rust. The tub looks pretty good and the fenders, rockers and doors are good. The top is a doublewall and besides needing a couple of side windows is in good shape. Tailgate is sitting in the back and is in good shape. The pics of underneath show what appears to be new body mount bushings and a clean looking frame. It was starting to rain and he was in a hurry, so I didn't get under it to look better, but not bad... The front glass is good and the window frame, firewall and tac dash look great. The floor in back and wheel tubs are nice with just some surface rust and typical scratches. Probably a better tub than mine. No grill, moldings, etc., but there is some stuff hiding in the back like a radiator, some patch panels, the mirror...

It doesn't have the front diff under it, but he's got another matched set of front and back diffs he's throwing in. I was hoping for a rear bumper and seats, but no dice... 8(

He ended up selling it to me for $450 delivered and I'm getting it next Wednesday. Now I just have to find a place for it and some way to tell my wife...

The tilt column doesn't look stock to me, but I didn't look closely when I was there. The steering wheel has what looks to be a firebird symbol on it. I can't wait to get it cleaned out and get a better look at everything. Wish I'd gotten some shots up under the dash...

The springs are hung and the steering box is there, but that's about it. I'm sorta thinking about finding a 73+ 2wd and doing a conversion frame. I won't know if there's enough there to make another truck out of it or if I'll just use it to fix my Blazer and have lots of spare parts...

Yes. I was looking at this for parts. But after seeing how good the tub is, it's got me thinking about working with this one. It's really going to depend on what I find when I get it home and start peeling the onion. It doesn't have a title, so unless I want to jack with a bunch of paperwork, I'll probably still have just one project...

It's going to be a tough decision how to go on this one. My truck runs good and even though it has a good deal of rust issues in the floor, rockers, and doors, I dread the idea of rewiring, replumbing, etc. On the other hand, the new Jimmy seems pretty cancer free other than the surface rust and has new body mounts. Just the quality of the dash, window frame and firewall have me wanting to use it... Which will be more work? Who knows..? The other obvious thing if I use the new one, I can do a better job preping all the surfaces and it's more a frameoff quality restore. Damn... Too much fun.

You practically stole that thing. Awesome deal! I don't know your storage situation, but I'd just build both. This one is too nice for "parts" and if you want to continue with the first blazer, then do so.

Tony, nice find! As soon as I started reading this and seeing the pics, I thought..."Tony needs to build that into a dumped ass 2WD Blazer. That blue looks nice for it too.

I like the blue too. I had a z28 that I painted Corvette Electron Blue that was awesome. I really need to do some research on the title and how you go about getting one for a vehicle like this in Colorado. If I could get a title, it would be a no-brainer to build it. Of course, now instead of just needing parts to fix my Blazer, I need parts to fix two. Dooh...
