Re: How many 67-72 do you think got crushed this past year

Even if it was my job to crush cars, I would never tell a Chevy Truck forum that I have been crushing them.

I think I will go over to the Olds Forum and tell them I have crushed eight 442īs this week and see what they think and then ask them what the W-30 meant on the side of 3 of them.

Re: How many 67-72 do you think got crushed this past year

Well, if you crushed them after all the usable parts have been removed to be used on other trucks it helps other trucks survive.

I look at trucks all the time that I would not consider trying to rebuild because they are too far gone in my opinion but see similar trucks getting total rebuilds on here.

I looked at a 71 Chev 3/4 ton long bed two wheel drive parts truck this weekend that I may buy in a month or so if he still has it. Good hood, two nice doors, tinted slider back window, Chrome front bumper that can be saved and the cab might be a good one for someone needing one. The interior is pretty well trashed, the bed is beat to death and has holes from old gas tank fillers. I didn't look under the hood so I don't know if it has an engine. Price is 200 on Craigslist and so far no takers except the low ballers who want it just for scrap value. It's a 60 mile one way trip to get it and tow it back but it would provide me with several parts that I want or need for the 71 and probably provide a few of the other guys in the PNW an inexpensive part or two before it went to the scrap yard. I didn't have the cash Saturday as I was up there buying a fiberglass camper shell he had for sale.

They get crushed all the time around here, which is why I posted a thread a while back gauging interest in rust free sheetmetal. I pulled a bed off of one a few weeks ago.

I've never sent anything to the crusher, but I did by accident crush a Toyota with my '68 GMC one time... that doesn't count does it?

Re: How many 67-72 do you think got crushed this past year

Just a rustbelt observation here, but when all of us here have to weld and patch out trucks back together multilple times over the years if they are used. Do you realize how sad it is when you California guys talk about scrapping and crushing trucks just because they're a long bed or have a pop can size hole in the floor or God forbid pitting from surface rust. Give us a break, if you're gonna crush them don't post it here. I'd hate to see what you'd do with all the East coast and midwest rust buckets we love and repair everyday! Rant over, gotta go cry now, thought of rustfree stuff being crushed is sad!

Well, I like my Cent Twenty Longhorn and would take it over an Olds anyday, even a 442. I commend you on showing your true grit with other car lovers.
