Old pictures of your current pickup

I haven't seen this before but I have seen some old pics scattered on different threads. What gave me the idea was, the second owner of my 72, 1993-2009, caught up with us at a cruise in a couple of months ago and promised me some photos of when it was pristine. I would like to put it back to that condition, but for now, I think I'll hold off. Please post old pics and maybe one or two of how it looks now. I will share my new "old" photos and one from today's look.

Re: Old pictures of your current pickup

I'll play along, the first photo was taken just a couple days after I brought my truck home in 2004. The second pic is from last week. Now I know there doesn't seem to be huge progress in this time frame but I had health issues, got divorced and remarried, bought a business and worked on several other projects in between. What has happened is the floors and rockers have been replaced, driver side front fender fixed, temporary 267ci small block installed with a 200 4r trans, converted to power disc brakes and power steering and five lug all the way around. It is also lowered 2" in the front. I decided to reassemble the truck because I started to loose the drive with the never ending project. So I decided to get it so I could drive it and enjoy my truck and I'll fix it up as I go.

Re: Old pictures of your current pickup

Great thread idea. Great to see your long time ownership, as well as others. I had my '71 Cheyenne Custom Camper/20 88-04 and '72 Cheyenne Super Custom Camper K/20 91-07. Only got rid of them for financial reasons. Thanks, Donna . Don't plan on ever getting rid of this '72. Don't plan on remarrying either

Here are a couple of pictures of mine. I think the first is from 1980 and the one in the snow is from 81 or 82.

Re: Old pictures of your current pickup

Here's one from 2007 when I got it roadworthy and buffed the paint out after it had sat for 8 years. My grandfather turned it into his 'toy' in 1991 and painted it red, put a 454 in it and changed the wheels. I wish I had pictures of it before he did anything to it. I was originally medium green and beat all to hell from sitting in a field in Lubbock, TX where my cousins used it for target practice. The red paint job had so much bondo, fiberglass and cardboard (yes, cardboard) that I couldn't believe it. I stripped it down to bare metal, replaced/fixed all the rust and shoddy work and this is how it sits now.

Re: Old pictures of your current pickup

I took the first picture (which I'm sure people are tired of seeing) the first or second week of December, 1968, a couple weeks after new delivery. The second "old" pic was taken in 2010 before restoration. The last was taken post restoration a couple years ago.

Re: Old pictures of your current pickup

I haven't had mine from new but have its history. I tracked down the owners son who bought the truck from his Dad in 1987 and had it until 2011. He sent me the attached pic from July 1972 just after the truck was purchased.

I don't have many pictures from then. The now picture is from a local car show last weekend. It's been a slight transformation.

Re: Old pictures of your current pickup

Thanks to everyone for the response to this thread. I am fascinated with history and especially, vehicle history. These trucks had their day in the sun and seem to still be serving us well. I am amazed at the work and transformations we've seen so far. I just have always let them get away from me in the past, but some of you have kept yours for nearly 50 years. Congrats all around. Keep em coming.

Re: Old pictures of your current pickup

While the actual photo of my truck isn't old this is the way it looked when the original owner parked it in his garage in 2000 when he abruptly decided to retire from his roofing business. She sat there untouched with 85,000 original miles on her for 15 yrs. until I came along... Original everything.
