Question How is the cab molding attached?

Long time lurker - first time poster! Just had a quick question for those of you who have removed your cab molding (the corner bits and the strip under the rear window):

How is it attached? Is it just adhesive? Or are there bolts I will need to remove?

I plan on removing it and restoring it, and I don't want to bugger it during removal.

I would use search, it has been discussed and answered many times in the past. Look down several posts about (23 or 24) to rollinsqrbdy's post, it is the same question. MOLDING REMOVAL. Good luck and God Bless, Terry

Gibson,

From what I have found, if the cab corner molding was orginal to your truck, it is attached by plastic clips which are in turn, attached to little metals pegs welded to the cab. I found this out by hitting the local pick and pull over the weekend. Scored (2) sets of cab moldings for $ 10.00 bucks. It can be attached using aftermarket clips and screws available from LMC. I am going to go this route on my 82' SWB.

The end corner pieces have a 3/8 speednut on them. You have to reach up to catch the nut from the back. The main span is held on by the plastic clips.

After what ECU mentioned, I went to Pull-A-Part and found some trim in perfect condition (thank for the tip). The corners were a pain - I could figure out how to get to that speed nut. Didn't seem to be anywhere that I could reach in. I used an old butcher knife to slide carefully under the corner trim and pry up enough to pop it off of the metal clip it was on (I'm assuming the other side of that clip has the aforementioned nut). Then the rear piece slid off sideways with a little coaxing. For some reason the other corner was easier to get off. Now I just have to hunt down those clips from LMC!
