Searching for my highschool 1968 chevy

Hello everyone I need your helping tracking down my high school truck. the truck originally belonged to my grandfather. I built the truck on a pizza boy budget when I was 15. I should of never sold it. I am 27 years old now and would like to buy back my grandfathers truck. I sold it to a local guy who completely redid the truck and did a beautiful job. He is a member on here and goes by socalkevin68. I believe the truck was sold to someone in golfport Mississippi. But could be anywhere by now I sold it around 2010 the truck is a 1968 Chevy c-10 cst longed. its all black with red 67 buddy seats in it. its a 4 speed automatic with a 327 in it. it is sitting on a set of corvette rally rims. I will post some pics of it. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well if you know who you've sold it to that's the first place to start. But if they're like most of the people I know (including me) they didn't save the buyers contact info. The next question is do you have the vin number of the truck? If you do and think it is in Mississippi then you may be able to do a vin search through Mississippi DMV. I have no idea how that works or if it's possible but that's what I'd look into. You also might want to try posting in the regional section of this forum.

Another option is the all powerful google. Google has a feature where you can search by image. If the current owner has posted any pictures (on anything besides Facebook) or someone posted a picture of it at a show, google will likely have it and point you to where it was posted.

I wish you luck finding the truck. My father and I restored a 68 Camaro when I was 16 that he sold a year later to expand his business. I was $1000 short of having the coolest car in HS. We of course don't have the vin or buyers contact info and it's been 2 decades since we've seen it around so there's no hope of ever finding it again. Plus I probably couldn't afford prying it out of the hands of its current owner. Best I can do make some new memories with my father recreating it with the 67 in my garage.

I do not recognize the truck, but doesn't mean it in=s not on the Mississippi gulfcoast. It is a nice looking truck, so if it was crusing around I would take notice for sure.

Bad part is if it was here prior to 2005, it may be gone forever thanks to Katrina.
You may be able pay one of these title companies to find our=t if that VIN is still registered somewhere.

Looks like he sold it around 2005 based in the info he gave, so hopefully it stayed in Cali for at least a year or two.

Re: Searching for my highschool 1968 chevy

good luck in your search - hard to track em down sometimes, but this board is pretty helpful. I often regret selling my first vehicle, but it didn't have family connections like yours. Welcome to the board and I sure miss Ridgecrest (3 yrs now!) - so it's good to see you on here! Say hey to member jbclassix if you see him! EDIT: disregard, I just remembered he moved to CO.
