Need carb guru
My quadrajet has a problem.
I can get in and crank and crank and no fire. if I take alittle bit of gas and dump it down the carb she fires right up and ------stays running!!!!!!! and runs fine after that butterfly is closed when trying to start it so the choke is working. Filter is new and so is the filter in the line before the carb. how about some suggestions. Far as I know it is a rebuilt carb.

Core plugs on the bottom are leaking fuel, common prob on q-jets. Pull carb, turn over, pull baseplate, epoxy all core plugs, reassemble. Brian

Is the accelerator pump shooting a good stream of gas when you pump it?

I vote with 64, core plugs. Just pump the accelerator and see if fuel is coming out. No gas outta the squirters is a good indication.

Jim K is the winner!!
I pulled the carb and checked the accelerator pump and the rubber was off the bottom end. swapped pump rods and now she starts!! Thanks for all the suggestions and will have to check to see if the core plugs are leaking in the near future. At least it starts and runs now. Thanks again Shannon
