05 gmc sierra ext cab problem?
My Wife just purchased a 2005 GMC Sierra Ext Cab 4X4 about 5 months ago.
About 6 weeks after her porchase, it started developing a Vibrating/Pulsing feel in the Front end that comes up through the Steering Wheel. We had our Mechanic "Turn the Rotors" and that took care of 95% of the problem for about 2 weeks (durring that time you could still barley feel it). It then became progressivly worse again. You can REALLY feel it when going down a Hill/Incline above 35 MPH or above and not so much when your on Level Ground. Any Ideas/Questions/Comments or have YOU had similar problems? Roger "RATIKLE"

Re: 05 gmc sierra ext cab problem?
wheel bearing? does it need new rotors? i've seen them wraped so bad that turning get it s some what better but it come back pretty quick. when u turned the rotors did you install a new set of pads? the old pads wore tot the rotors so they will wear the rotors back to what they where before

How about rotating the front tires to the rear and trying that? Being a 4wd I'll assume it has some sort of off/on road combo tires on it and when the edges of the front tires wear they will give a slight vibration at certain speeds.

I went through a somewhat similar thing with a friend's F150. Turned out he had an ABS malfunction. Might be a good idea to have that checked out.

Re: 05 gmc sierra ext cab problem?
All of the newer vehicles are very sensative to Lateral Runout. It is different that a warped rotor. It is the rotor or hub wabbling back and forth. I have machined many a rotor to still have the brake pulsation. There are special shims that fit under the rotor and that help make it run true. You can tell if the LRO (lateral run out) is off with a dial indicator. At the GM dealer I worked at they would not even pay us to do a warranty brake job unless we had the measurements of the LRO. It is very important. David
