Lmc euro lights

I kno I've seen bits an pieces of this on a variety of different threads, but I want to get all the do's and don'ts... The pros and cons... The nitty gritty of it all...all on one thread.
I got an '85 gmc with a '91 suburban front end. Was abounding it, but the only way to get decent bright lights was to install the lmc euro lights. Then continue on to the bottom lights an then a buddy of mine was going to swap bumpers with me an I was going to have the square fog lights in the bumper, too. All uniform in style.
Now spit out ur opinions, give me some pointers...maybe different options...maybe guys that have the lights that love em an those that hate em. Jus like anybody else, I don't wanna fork out some bread jus to find out I don't like em anyways...

In a nut shell, took a new 10 headlight from the parts house, make a 3" hole in the back of the metal housing of the lamp ... made a real snug fit since the height of the lamp is only 3" back there. Opened the back of the metal headlight bucket. Placed the headlight in the bucket, secured it, placed the projector assembly into the facotry lamp and took some measurements on the tube like extension to seal up the projector. In my app, I went to the muffler shop and grabbed a scrap 4" tube, made it kinda oval like. grinded it so it contoured the back of the headlight bucket. welded to studs to the tube so I can secure the projector to the assembly.
Made the smallest neccessary hole in the coresupport to allow the entire assembly to fit through. Worked out ok, lost no adjustability. Due to me openeing the hole, the headlights sit back maybe an extra 1/4- 1/2 ".. cant tell, but It went in just a tad. Sealed the back up with various stuff, and for the headlamp "shell" to bucket, I used Butyle tape... its black automotive "sticky tack like" sealant... you would use it to say seal up a rear window that gets bolted to the body of the car. makes a great seal, and it doesnt get hard or seem to deterate.... I almost want to buy a pair projector housings someone on the board mentioned and see about grafting those in... the beam is much more powerfull looking than mine. Mines clean, clear, bright and not ricer like. The facotry lamp isnt crystal clear, but the markings on it doesnt seem to affect the light output. If I ever do buy this other projector, I will do a how to or sell them as a kit or something.

Just seen your in baytown.. I have an aunt in baytown.. about 5 minutes or so from the track. If check out retrofitsource.com they got the fx-r... thats the one i want to retrofit next... ...

Yea lookin forward to seein ur next build. Looked at the back of my core support a few times to figure out wut u were talkin about. But I'm sure pics would be jus that much more helpful. Thanx. Who knows it's a small world. I live about 5 mins from the track ( Garth and I-10)

I probally will order a kit from these guys when my deposit refund comes in the mail. I asked them for some tech specs on mounting them and got exactly what I was looking for. Got a good grasp on the how to.. its just a matter of droppin the 315 for the housings, bulbs and igniter...

I picked up an extra set of headlight buckets from the bone yard this past saturday. I was browsing the options for thie FX-r projectors and found the cheapist option that will get this retrofit going... 190 and which will get me the projectors, DS2 bulbs, AMP->DS2 adapters to connect to the current ignter. That plus the 10 bucks at the bone yard plus an additonal 20 in new headlights with metal housing.. thats about 220. Theres nothing wrong with my current setup but looking to improve... once finished I will have the current setup for sale once I become a subscribing member . Once I get the projectors, I will make a new thread and maybe a how to.

check out these hella's. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HLA-003177801/ They will fit right in your light cans. Interestingly they are for highway use in Canada only. I am gonna try a set. At least halogen is a giant step above this stock crap

Keep me posted. Same as everybody else waiting on that "poor man's Xmas" (income tax refund). Gonna to "something" to my lighting situation jus haven't really decided jus yet.

I also have 3 Hella E-55 bixenons at the house. I thought I had 1, but after getting a another headlight assembly out of a z4 (benifits of working at a BMW dealership) turns out it was an e-55... when I went to put it up in the project shelf, I noticed I had a pair already I might go ahead and fit those into the spare headlights I just bought and run them with a clear lense. I would still need to get a set of bulbs and the adapter for the projector. I will start playing around with them next weekend.

Keep me updated on ur progress. I like the projectors, jus don't like the price tag. Especially since this is my daily driver. There's too much room for uh-ohs on my behalf that will get expensive later

i will make progress this weekend and take some photos of the progress. this weekend my axles will come in and I will be in the garage playing around. This time I will make sure I save the photos in a folder instead of putting them on the net and deleting them.
