Check this one out

Picked up this 72 GMC Open Roads Motor Home. Cab interior is ridiculously clean and in tact. Body sheet metal is perfect, rockers are perfect, never seen on this solid. Has all the paperwork from 72. Going to have the living area replaced and keep this as a Motor Home. Thinking 6.0 LS/ 4l80E. More pictures are coming soon.

Re: Check this one out

Does it have a red/grey interior? I think I saw it on Tucson CL some months ago, but talked myself out of another old truck. It was really reasonable, what the guy was asking, IIRC.
Glad it found a good home with a Boardmember.

This one is green interior. A board member posted it and also put it on CL. I jumped on it and made the deal.

Re: Check this one out

Funny that 2 of 'em went on the block about the same time. As I recall the interior was light gray on the upper surfaces, had a red ''tracer line'' about hip level, then a charcoal tone below. Reminded me of the old Mr Goodwrench uniforms, dealership mechs and techs had to wear. Big glass rear with sliding french doors and a shallow ''porch''. Inside looked nice, gas range, short beer fridge, cafe-table booth, bunk over cab.
Had a 350, GMC 2500 OR 3500. Possibly more of a light root beer metal flake brown.
Hated to miss catching it but I've currently got the 2 trucks that ran on the sick list.
If I had bought it we coulda had us a club. Ha Ha. May be going down Patagonia way over the 4th. Taking the '71 Jimmy even though the drivers side window is stuck open.
Have fun with the camper.

I am going to keep the original paint color. I like it. Might even run a stripe down the bottom of the new camper. Best $280 bucks I spent to ensure it made it home in one piece.

That thing is great. I'd put a gear vendors overdrive on it and call it ready for service.

Re: Check this one out

One thing that beauty isn't is a pickup...never was. You are so lucky to buy that. I brought my kids up camping in these year camper trucks traveling all around. I was hoping it would leave a lasting impression on them and they have already begun reflecting back on not only the trips we took but the trucks themselves.

That camper would look fantastic painted back to original. I had a '70 Custom Camper 157" that was a former Winnebago. They always used a gold stripe on their campers, so the cab was Medium Gold Poly (dull like yours). I painted that thing and that gold looks great with chrome, black, white, woodgrain...all the colors that it might be next to. Mine had a Parchment interior and it looked luxurious in gold.

Special K,

I hear exactly what you are saying. My kids are still young and we want to hopefully provide some good memories for them. The back half of the truck cannot be saved. I am having a custom camper built for it by a RV shop. Build it the way the misses wants it so I don't have to be reminded about it every time we use it. The Design of the back had way too many flaws and lack of maintenance on the seals has resulted in a lot of rot. The floors are solid so it is all not lost. We are keeping the stove and turn it into a sweet grill that will be portable. I want to make it reliable and functional, not just a show item. It will be a great project.
