Bed shakes
Ok I got a longbed 70 with coils, and when I shake the back of my bed my whole truck wiggles, and something like nocks, and my bed and cab move serperatly. Like it looks like soemthing is lose, you know what I mean? Any ideas what it is? My friends 72 shortbed does the same thing.

I'm not sure what it's called, but if you crawl under the back of the truck and look, there should be a steel rod that is connnected from the rear differential to the frame/bed. It's about 2 feet long. Each end of this rod is round and in this round part is a hole that sildes over a bolt, or has a bolt go thru it. In side this hole, is a rubber seal/grommet. If you look at yours, i'll bet your rubber grommets are worn or just not there at all. Replace those rubber pieces, and your 'shake' will go away. Hopefully, the rod hasn't disappeared!!! Grommets are available from any of the 67-72 parts vendors. Jim

the knock sound is probably in the differential. its the axles moving against the C-clips inside the carrier. (go do the same thing to a leaf sprung truck of any vintage or a rear wheel drive car) its normal (unless its excessive, then you need rear end work)
the cab & bed moving thing is probably the cab mounts either loose or worn out.

Sounds like bushings,is my guess.There are bushings in the Panhard bar and trailing arms.How are your shocks.Could be a combination of all these.If you want to check wear at the c-clips,jack the truck up and push`n`pull on the tire/wheel.If theres alot of movement along with the knock or clunk,you`ve got alot of wear.A little movement is ok.

I doubt your pushing your truck hard enough by hand to be testing the cab mounts...you are just looking at cab/bed movement. Normal.

Ya it's the panhard bushing, or lack of bushing I should say. lol. I will be getting some new polyerythan ones soon.

I'm thinking wore shock mount bolt holes, or at least that is what makes that sound on my truck. I had a heck of a time figuring that one out, until my bro inlaw came over and shock it while I checked everything out from underneath and found it fairly quick then, my .02 Randy

Shaking normal/clunking not.Coils do it more than leafs.

The cab is mounted with rubber mounts and the bed is bolted directly to the frame. That why they move differanty
