Heater set up

Got the heater wired up today and it switches on low through high no problems.

I only have one large hose hanging loose under the dash and nothing going to or from the defroster vents.

Can anyone please show me pics of how the inside, under dash hoses connect as we'll as the firewall hoses from the engine bay side.

With the motor change it looks as though some of the engine bay hoses have been blocked off.

Not a real good photo but you can see a black hose crimped over at the left.



I'll take some more shots under the dash tomorrow if no one is able to help without them.

What heater are you using ? Is it original or something aftermarket ? Most heaters have two round ports or tubes sticking out for the hoses to connect to the defroster vents.

Yes it's an original heater and there appears to be two outlets from the heater. From what your saying I take it that each one goes to the defroster vents and that's it??

So the defroster vents are the only vents/outlets in the cab then?

It has been a while but I think there is a lever on the box that turns a deflector inside that directs the air up to the defront vents or down to the floor. I can't remember if it was attached to a dash or under dash knob/lver or if you had to reach down and move it on the box.

There should be two tubes on the heater for the defroster tubes/hoses to hook on to. You can buy the tubes at Napa or other parts houses but you will have to measure the diameter of the outlets and then figure out how long you need it. The tube is corrugated and will stretch out and bend to how you need it.

I need to figure out the defrost setting before fall, because I can't feel a real air flow up there. I think my rig came with a Vintage Air that uses the original dash controls.
If I am correct, when the heater temp is on lowest, the fan switch turns on the a/c.
