Seam Sealer for Tranny Hump?

Another dumb question, but this is new stuff to this old guy. When you re-install a high hump, what do you use for sealer? Is the OEM stuff still available at GM dealers (or elsewhere) or is there something better?

I used ROPE CAULK. you should be able to get it at your local hardware store.

I just used a high temp silicone.
It was not the type one uses as a gasket sealer, it was a type that stays some what tacky. I have had to remove the hump twice since laying down a large bead, and all I do is mold it back into a bead and then set the hump back down and it seals up again just fine. I then just take a rag and wipe away the excess that squeezes out.

Can't remember the brand, but it comes in a large tube for a caulking gun.
The color is graphite.

I used seem sealer for steel roofs. it's a butal tape that comes in a roll with a wax paper removable backing. It stays soft forever and conforms to every contour. Clean and easy to use and only cost about $5 for a 20 ft roll. You can get it at any large hardware store that sells steel roofing. If you ever need to remove the hump it will come right up as it doesn't harden.

Hmmmm, I have access to something that sounds identical, at an unbeatable price.... if it's still there. If not, I have a couple other great suggestions. Thanks, guys.

I use 3M Windo-Weld Ribbon (3/8" X 15' round bead). Its very sticky, water proof, part nummber 08612.

Butyl Tape or window weld works well. Silicone sealer will attract and trap moisture causing rust issues and should not be used on body surface.

Well, my local hardware didn't have a lot to choose from. I ended up using a complete 10.5 oz. tube of gray Big Stretch sealant. It sets up firm (not hard) and retains some flexibility, so it can bend & stretch without cracking or breaking.

I bought a large roll from the local marine supply for about $7. It's reusable, waterproof, somewhat firm, not silicone, and cheap. Guys use it on bolts to seal their deck hardware and window ports from leaking through... so it's gotta work!

i used liquid gasket maker on mine and it seals up good
