'67 C10 Power steering Gear

This question has most likely been presented a number of times but I searched for a while and could not find a clear answer so if someone could provide a link to the thread with this info. or just tell me it would be much appreciated!!!!

What steering gear from what year pickup (2wd or 4wd) and/or adapter kit (and from where) do I need to convert a '67 to power steering. I can make a pump work but for now I just need info on the gear.

Thanks guys!!

Ben,

I don't know if you are familiar with the FAQ forum or not. Scroll down to the bottom of this page and you will see the "Forum Jump" box. Click on the little down arrow on the right side of the box and scroll down to "FAQ Truck Tech". On that page go down to "Thread / Thread Starter: FAQ Index thread". When you get into that scroll down to the "Brakes and Suspension related FAQ's" In that section you will see a "How to” on it.

I could have just posted a direct link but there is a lot of good info in the FAQ section and now the new people that read this thread will know how to get to it.

Thanks to Krue for indexing the FAQ's

I know my 72 C10 had factory power steering, I would think that would be as close to a "bolt in" as you could get.

It is a bolt in except for one thing. If you look at your 72 frame you will see that it is indented where the box fits up against the frame. This indentation provides clearance for the steering box. Since the 67's had a different type of power steering the frame does not have this indentation. On 67's the frame has to be modified or the steering box has to be shimmed out. (not recommended by some people)
