Re: Hows my dizzy look?

id clean that up real good and see if it helps but for the price of a rotor and cap id prolly just change it ... your pics are dark but it looks pretty dirty and burnt in there

Re: Hows my dizzy look?

for no more than a new cap and rotor costs... if you have to ask, odds are you should replace it. not trying to be a smart allick, just my 2cents.

Re: Hows my dizzy look?

Just curious, I don't know what else you've done to figure out why your truck bogs off idle, but it sounds to me like you need your timing checked.
It still looks to me like you need to replace your cap and rotor, but if you haven't timed the engine, I'd be doing that first.

Re: Hows my dizzy look?

Stumbling can be lots of things. Replace your cap and rotor as stated above. While you're in there, make sure that your vacuum advance mechanism is free and not all gummed up. After that, check your timing. If you still get a stumble, try connecting your vacuum line from your distributor to a manifold source instead of a ported source. If all that fails, you may have a fuel issue.

Re: Hows my dizzy look?

Yeah, from the pics, looks like it's just time to replace.

If you just want to clean it up, sandpaper will get you by.

Re: Hows my dizzy look?

The cap looks worn. Cheap to replace. What kind of carb do you have? Could be an issue there too.

Re: Hows my dizzy look?

Accel sell complete distributors, Streetfire is the one I use. It was $25 more for that then rebuilding and upgrading the old one, so more the worth the price to get completly new unit with a high output coil. Typically the bog off the line is a carb issue.

My 2 cents...

Re: Hows my dizzy look?

Ive set my timing with a timing light at 0 degrees but might try advancing it a few degrees and see if that solves it, it has new plugs, new vacuum advance, wires are good, new fuel filter, pretty new edelbrock 1406. I figured id see how the dizzy looked inside and wanted to get a few second opinions. Ill pull the line from the pump to carb and check how clean it is as well.

Thanks for all the help guys, its much appreciated!
