Carrier bearing Retrofit?

I was wondering if anyone has had a problem with the carrier bearing mount bending or breaking. I started noticing a cluncking sound when I took off from a stop. It sounded like a bad u-joint. When I got under the burb to see what the problem was I found the carrier bearing mount had broken some of the spot welds and was banging on the frame. I only have a stock 305 so there is not alot of horse power. Is this a commen problem and is there a better carrier mount that can work.
