New 2nd row suburban seats

I am installing some leather seats out of an 03 suburban in my 72, I have the front buckets in and done but I am wondering if anyone has any pics of how they mounted the second row. I need to move them back so I need to mount them on the back raised ledge and have the front on the regular floor. Any advise or pics on this is appreciated.

Re: New 2nd row suburban seats

I mounted a set of bucket rear seats from a Denali. I am assuming you are mounting a bench seat. I set my seat back on the upper ledge to provide more leg room for the second seat passengers. I had to drop the gas tank to run the mounting bolts in the back. For the front brackets I had 2 blocks of 4 x 4 tubular steel cut 4" tall for my outer mounts and 3" tall for the inner mounts. The floor board is not flat therefore the need to cut one 1" shorter. Here is a picture of mine. Hope this helps but it may not apply to your application. Giving this a little more thought I may have only need to drop the gas tank to mount my 3rd row set of seats.

That's great, thank you that's exactly what I was looking for. How is the headroom sitting in those seats with them being up on the ledge, decent I would assume?

Re: New 2nd row suburban seats

The head room is fine. I forgot to mention that I had a 1/2 hole drilled all the way through them. When I mounted them I found that using 2 bolts (1 to the floor and then 1 to the seat was the easiest. I used #8 grade bolts and put washers under them. I also used washers on the back to level the ride height. These seats to tilt back so you can adjust how straight up you sit also.) They do sit up 2 or three inches higher than the front seat but I have had adults ride back there and you still have 3 or 4 inches to the ceiling. I figured it didn't really matter, how many times do you have adults in the back seat anyway. I also mounted the 3rd row of seat and they are removable and tilt up out of the way if you need more room.

Not that you ask but here is a few pics of the rear seat incase you go in that direction also. I mounted the brackets on top of some 1/2 nuts for spacers. I painted the nuts black so they don't show. I can get more pics with them in place and in the sitting position if you would like and more of the middle seat mounts.

Re: New 2nd row suburban seats

I used the front row seats out of a Silverado for the front of my 72 and the 3rd row out of a 2004 suburban for the 2nd row of mine. This way I can fold the seats down and still use the Burb like a truck for hauling larger items.
