Re: 64-66 door weatherstrip-EUREKA!!!!

Outstanding, thanks for sharing. It's a shame the aftermarket can't just make seals the same shape as the originals. I kept pieces of my originals and nothing in the aftermarket even comes close. Your discovery sounds like the answer for a lot of owners.

I measured the Accord Coupe and the Pilot and both are shorter then the Civic Coupe. If your picking them up from the wreckers you could always try to find a third one and piece it under the lower sill as 61K10 did.

Re: 64-66 door weatherstrip-EUREKA!!!!

I bought the new chevy repop push on seals and I now have to slam my doors but I have less wind noise. My precision glue on seals I did not have to slam doors, but had a lot of wind noise. I think I will try a set of these Honda seals.

Who were your push-on seals made by?

Re: 64-66 door weatherstrip-EUREKA!!!!

For what its worth. I tried several different gaskets and the Honda gasket was the best fit for me. Left it in the sun for a bit and it snapped into place perfectly. I put the sharp corner in the lower front and it looks and fits great. The other gaskets made for this truck made my doors too difficult to close. The Honda rubber seemed a bit more collapsible. I did not trim the inner lip as it provides a buffer/pocket for my custom lower vent panels.

I agree, they collapse and let the doors close the best I’ve tried. Recently installed the Precision press on seals and they are nicely made but the Honda seals close easier. I don’t like that inner flap though, maybe because mine are from the auto wrecker they stick out more than new seals.

Great write up and suggestion from user Rob Fisher, how about some pics and feedback from the users that have since posted here that they purchased a set?

Re: 64-66 door weatherstrip-EUREKA!!!!

I have been looking a little at the replacement rocker panels, and it doesn't appear they have the lip that this slides onto. What are guys doing to have this lip? Maybe I am just not looking hard enough.

The lip is on the repop rockers but it is 1/2 the size of the originals.

Re: 64-66 door weatherstrip-EUREKA!!!!

The full replacement rocker panels (not the slip-ons) do indeed have the lip for the weatherstripping.

Any updates? Just linked to this from another member's thread. Seems like a nice solution, & thanks to the OP for sharing. Truly one of those "who woulda thunk it" moments.

Re: 64-66 door weatherstrip-EUREKA!!!!

I called to order a set. They asked if it was the seal "on the door" itself, or the seal that goes on the body. I guess I'm asking you guys which one?

thank you,
Tim

I would think all you need to give them is the part #'s listed in the first post:

I ordered a brand new set from Hondapartscheap.com
P/N 72315-SVA-A01ZA for the right side.
P/N 72355-SVA-A01ZA for the left side.
They are called Front Door Opening Seals and described as Graphite Black.
Brand new in genuine Honda packaging was $38.92 per side.
Lots of these cars in the wreckers so I am sure you could find them used cheaper. This particular weather-strip is used in 2006-2009 Honda civic 2 door coupes, the sedan has a smaller door opening size and does not fit.

It is the seal that attaches to the body.
Thanks
