Anyone else need more legroom? Can you shorten the steering column?

The tank is already out- still too crowded for my comfort.
Anyone ever shorten up the steering column for a little more room?
Thanks,

and removing the tank makes no difference at all with a stock seat, or any other seat that is the same height.

I agree, just shorten the steering column. Makes a huge difference and takes only about and hour.

I'm not a very big guy but my '71 C20 was a little close in the steering wheel to stomach clearance. I enjoy driving my '67 burb alot better. So much more room in there.

Page 2, post 41 has pretty specific instructions.

Can this be done with a 3 speed manual column shift or will the linkage be affected?

How does moving the column/wheel forward give you more leg room?

Yes, because you can mount the seat higher!
