I'm getting a new toy!
Well, my 67 swb is in the shop getting bagged. I found this that a guy is selling. Its a 67 swb, looks to be the same color, but has been sitting a while. It has a engine, tranny, just no seat, and is missing a manifold, but everything else is there. I thought it would be sweet to get it running, convert to 5lug disc, and pull my 67 to the shows with this 67. I can pull my interior out, and my old 15's, and paint the same color. See what you think.

I'm on an iPhone, can't post pics. I have a lot of recent treads with pics. It's nothing special but it's on it's way to nice.

Re: I'm getting a new toy!
well, I got back with the truck last night. It was a 200 mile one way trip but it was fun with 3 friends. The truck has a rust hole in passenger bed floor, right behind the tire but nothing a patch and spray-in liner won't fix. Floorboards have holes, very common, saw that coming lol. I have a hole under the battery tray, in inner fender and in the passenger fender. I won't be useing the inner fender on my other '67 since it's being bagged so I'll put it on this one. I'll switch fenders because this truck will be the hauler and the fenders are in better shape. It's just about dentless, but has has small dings, nothing bad though. Interior paint is awesome, it's still shiny. I'll post pics later, because I just have my cell now, but will be around a computer later. The guy I bought it from very cool LOL, I got a little jealous, he had like 50 different cars parked behind his house. My wife would have killed me if I went with more money than needed for this truck.

Re: I'm getting a new toy!
well, the bed floor is toast! It had a rubber bed mat and when it came out, bed was rusted out in front all the way across and about a foot or so back. Didn't even think of looking there, and there was so many leaves, dirt and who knows what else in there. The dash is rusted by the windshield, not sure how bad yet. It has it's bad places but I have other donor trucks. I'll get pics asap, when it gets light outside.

Re: I'm getting a new toy!
Just little update. Plug wires, old plugs laying around, and a screwdriver because the ignition is out, and it fired right up. I need and ignition, flush gastank, alternator, lower radiator hose, and gauges and it's good. It's a 307/350t and started try, no smoke, or anything. Been sitting 6-8 years from what PO said. Poor guy didn't know what he had.

Re: I'm getting a new toy!
Nothing like saving an old beater lol. I'm planning on upgrading my other 67, and uses the old stuff for this one. I have seats, dash pad, and visors, and I bought new wheels so I'll use the 15's for this one as soon as I convert to 5lug. When I buy 22's then the 20's go on this one. I have intakes, carbs, heads, and stuff so I can take the 2barrel Carb off eventhough it seems fine, but uses a little breather. I have headers and flows and since my other is bagged I can't use them. Hopefully it's on the road soon so I can see what it needs.

The Big Green...looks like a sweet project. Below is what welcomed me when I pulled the bedliner out of my 70cst. Can we say replacement bed.

Re: I'm getting a new toy!
Yea, I drove a good distance for this truck and it had sit for many years. I got it home and pulled the rubber mat out all the way, and SURPRISE!! I pulled the back up to find rust but there was years of trash towards the front and I could had looked under but didn't think of it, I was too happy to notice the negative. I would have bought anyways though lol. I didn't want to buy a 68-72, I wanted to save an identical 67. Paid off when I started it yesterday.

Re: I'm getting a new toy!
Where did you go to get this one ?
200 miles would've put you close to me if you went NorthEast. Looks like a nice project start. Not too beat-up, but a little bit too "air conditioned" in the wrong places. |
