Spline Drive Lug Nut Problem

Hey all -

I have a '77 C10 Big 10 edition.

The problem I have is that the lug nuts that came on the vehicle have a spline drive on them, and I have yet to find a socket that fits them.

I've checked all the haunts - Oreilly's, AZ, Discount Tire and 4WD truck places. I even special ordered a set of spline drive lug nut sockets from Amazon - all of which were too small.

Typically speaking there is 3/4 OD lug nut for this type, but I can't seem to find anything one size up. When I go to 13/16, it is too big, and I can't find something that would fit it anyhow!

Does anyone have any ideas what this beast is, and how in the F*** I can get it to come off?

Otherwise, I have to buy 20 sockets and hammer them on...

Re: Spline Drive Lug Nut Problem

good tire shops will have a master key setup or the special sockets to bite and remove them .

my buddy has a master key set with just under 40 keys . he can get most any of them off .

Re: Spline Drive Lug Nut Problem

Just to clarify, I'm hoping someone else has these and can confirm. Because it appears to be 21mm. Every auto parts store hasn't had anything this big, even on special order. As well as HF and Discount Tire. If someone is recommending other tire places - you'll have to be more specific.

The closest I find on the internet is here from Summit Racing, but these look like they are on their original rims.

These are also very deep, while all the others that I have found are shallow.

I''d be looking for some turbo sockets. They work great. Once you have them, you'll wonder how you worked on rusty/rounded nuts before you had them.

Re: Spline Drive Lug Nut Problem

I've had luck using normal hex sockets. Try 3/4, 13/16, 19mm, 20mm or 21mm
