4 speed swap?

I have a 75 Chevy short stepside witha 250 and 4 speed, and it pops out of 2nd gear. Can a S10 5 speed be swaped it very easy? Would the shifter be in the same hole? If not is there any other trans that would be a good swap? Thanks.

Ya I put one in mine. The shifter hole will move. The trans crossmember will move and you will have to trim down 4 parts to match the sizes of your old trans and you will have to put together a clutch package mix and match. You will also shorten drive shaft the t5 trans is longer. You have to do some research also to find out the gear ratios the later model has taller first gear and you want one with a mach speedo not the computer one. It made my inline six run great

Re: 4 speed swap?

I've had problems with the S-10 5 speeds before but that may be just my luck. I know the Camero 5 speed are geared differently, closer ratio between gears but I don't know about the shifter tower location. Nice mod though

Re: 4 speed swap?

Look in the Drivetrain section, hot version seems to be Camaro with S10 shifter and tail housing.
