Converter cover

How many of you guys are running the cover for the torque converter? Is it really necessary?

The cover is only mandatory when the truck(2 or 4wd) is operated on dirt or stone roads or areas. It protects the flexplate from rocks and debri. I've never used a cover and have never had any problems on the street. Plus my tranny guy said that it'll help cool my 10" converter.

Haha, funny you should bring this up...I haven't had that inspection cover on in like 2 months! Although, putting it back on will quieten that area down there up a bit.

i haven;t been running one for a year and a half. make it real easy when you need to turn the crank, just go under and pull on the flexplate.

I haven't ran one in some time. Mine kept rattling so finally I tore it off. No problems (knock on wood)

its not really that much of a hassle, just a couple bolts, i threw a flex plate bolt and it put about a thousand dents in my cover, i took it off in an attempt to remove the bolt, it was a failed attempt as the bolt put a hole in the side of the bell housing and is now permanantly lodge there.
