Re: Exhaust?

I had to reply, from one Colin to another haha
From what Ive seen an x pipe does the best job of smoothing out the exhaust and taking advantage of the scavaging effect, but you have to have the room for it. If your truck is very low and the pipes need to be tucked up into the frame rails, you will not be able to run anything other than true duals.

Putting in an x pipe will cost you more money, and Im guessing you arent exactly drag racing with that 327, so I dont know if the added cost will outweigh the performance gain for you.

Re: Exhaust?

ha ha thanks collin and i dont plan on drag racing with it cause its got a granny 4 speed. The 327 is putting out over 350 hp.

so a x pipe is better for performance?

I am keeping the dual Flowmaster 40's and H-pipe that were on there when I bought the truck Just need to cut them down a little to fit under the SWB.

Re: Exhaust?

The added benefit of connecting each exhaust pipe is neglible. I added an H-pipe on my vehicle and no real difference.

Re: Exhaust?

Go with an X. You will not regret it.

I got an x-pipe that is basically a magnaflow x-pipe without the branding from Full Line Exhaust in dothan alabama for under $20. call them and ask about their x's. you wont find it on the website. i think the magnaflow style is the strongest you can get. the xpipe or h-pipe, whatever you go with, will get flexed from the torquing of the motor and the shaking of the exhaust system. a cheap x or h will rip at the welds after time.

Re: Exhaust?

with anything but flowmasters and the like I would recommend an x. With flows I think an x sounds like crap, go with an h

Re: Exhaust?

X I think it makes more of a difference if it is truly a high performance engine. .02
