Which dash pads are better? The vinyl covered ones that are like the origional and are more expensive or the solid plasic ones that are a GM restoration part that are cheeper? Thank you everyone.

Dave, I have both why don't you look at them in Pigeon Forge and decide which you like best.

Got mine from classic chevy and had to reorder, First one as not even close, molded in studs were located wrong. But I must say they did treat me good got a new one with no return!! need one?

I just put my new dash pad in today (Dashes Direct, soild polyurethane) and I'm having problems with it "seating" properly on the top where it meets the dash! I did it when the temperature was over 70 deg. (as recommended) but I still have to get some of the exterior screws reinstalled (the 4 that you can get at from the outside) as they missed the "J-nuts". As far as the quality & finish goes its pretty good, but I'll have to wait and see if the fit is going to be good, later Doug

Appearance of the urethane and vinyl wrapped dash pad is the same when installed, the vinyl one will crack in 15-20 years just like the originals did unless protected from the suns UV rays and extreme heat, the urethane one will look the same in 20 years as it does when installed as they will not crack ( though it most likely will be dirty than when installed

) If you want to be as close to original as possible go vinyl and keep it protected from UV rays when not driving ( windshield screen ) if it doesn't matter that its not vinyl wrapped as they look the same installed go urethane.
