full timer or part timer?

looking for a little insight on a transfercase decision i need to make. I have both a good full-time and good part-time transfercases I could install in my project burb, my main intension for this project is to make a beefy 4x4, most likely it is going to get a 8.1L engine which i already have as well.
any thoughts would be appreciated. thanks.

Re: full timer or part timer?

Yea I'd say that's a good reason.

Re: full timer or part timer?

Part time for me. With the full time mileage suffers and I have always thought that the front differential was getting unnecessary wear.

Re: full timer or part timer?

I did a bit of research it sounds to me like a np 203 converted to part time is better than a np 208.

Does the Chain make the 203 weaker than a 205? Is the 203 really any stronger than the 208?

What i would really like to know is since a 203 actually works simularly to all wheel drive when not shifted into lock(this I know for a fact because the truck would not move when the front drive shaft was removed, without shifting into lock). How much different could it operate from a newer style like a Silverado SS, which is all wheel drive? As far a wear on the front end it should be offset by less wear on the rear end, maintenance and repair wise should this not even itself out? sort of?

Although it must always be a consideration, fuel economy is not a major part of building this unit. It will only be an occasional driver and mostly either off road or cruisin the streets for hot rod nights. I am hoping to build a 600+ horse power big block. No matter which drive line I use it will not be a fuel mizer(thats y I bought the wife a jetta).
