Single Wall Top Opinions

I am looking at this single wall top and would like to know what you think a fair price for it would be? This is not mine to sell, I am looking to possibly purchase it.

Loos like a very usable top and hatch. Its worth whatver someone wants to pay. Id say probably at least 500$

I sold one without a hatch for $400 I think not too long ago. Id say at least $500 because of the damage if it includes strips and wiring

^^ agreed. If the seller knows what he/she has they'll ask $500 + for it.

With the damage I'd say about 3 bills. Last one I looked at was 400 in better shape. Fiberglass can be fixed.

Start at $100 and work your way up to $400.

They should be worth more but they just don't seem to sell above $500.

Ultimately its worth whatever someone is willing to pay.

I sold a double wall top in worse condition missing a window and the rear hatch for $250.

Thats the power hook up for the dome lights on the top. Unplug to remove the top.

^^^^thanks. I have, apparently, only the plug there, no plate or whatever goes with it. And presumably no lead wire from the chassis/inside to put into that plug......ok, more crap to find......lol.

is the single wall a more desirable top than a comparable double wall?
I am just learning about these things and mine is a double wall but also needs some work. What is the weight difference. and sorry I didn't search for this just throwing it out there.

Single walls are massively heavy and double walls are unbelievably heavy.

Single walls can sag in the middle and virtually all double walls sag in the middle.

Single walls have bolts that go down from the top into captive weld nuts in the bed rail (that only some '72 have and no '69-71 has, you'd have to drill and add them). But it means that single walls can be removed without removing interior side panels. The double wall has bolts that go up from under the bedrail into captive nuts in the top.

Single walls may have dome lights, double walls never have factory dome lights.

Hatches are interchangable between the two.

Dispite the names both are actually double wall, the "double wall" has more space between the inner and outer skin than the "single wall" and the single wall has exposed structure on the interior side.

The single wall is generally more desireable because it sags less and can be removed easier.

All that said apparently either top is worth significantly more on the West Coast than in the Midwest or East Coast. I sold my double wall for $300 and it was a rat with a hole in both the inner and outer skin, a front to back split starting, massive sag, and the worlds cheapest sunroof installed badly with acrylic caulk...oh and the bolts were all rusted so bad they looked more like nails than bolts. But the hatch and original green tint glass was all good and the hatch alone is worth that on the West Coast.

Why would these tops be more valuable on the West Coast? My guess is that more rebuildable trucks survive on the West Coast, and the sun is harder on the tops and also that tops are removed and replaced more so they are subjected to more damage. So on one coast trucks survive and tops don't and the opposite is true in the Midwest and East Coast.
