i'm all for getting the gas tank out of the cab, but this is stupid. wouldn't the driveshaft be mighty close to the tank this way?

Re: please don't do this to your truck

Safer than where the spare goes...which seems to be everyone's favorite place.
What kind of hit would it take to get to that tank.
And as far as the drive shaft goes... I'm willin to bet my lunch money there is a carrier bearing right there under the tank, which means there is a split in the drive shaft, and more likely than not... neither shaft would even reach that tank.

But what do I know...I think it belongs in the cab.

Oh yeah, NO FLAMER E-MAILS OR PM'S PLEASE.
If you have a problem with my opinion...state it here. If you e-mail me, I'll put your e-mail addy on gay porn spam list. Got it? (Yes...I'm sick of the flamer e-mails on this and a few other opinions of mine that are again't the grain)

I wouldn't haul anything in that truck! I'm keeping the tank in the cab, I'm not afraid!

That's just wrong! It has nothing to do with the safety debate either. It's just that it's ugly....

With that spray-in liner you can hardly see the tank in there.

Other than the tank, it is a killer looking truck.

Maybe he took it literally when he heard about moving the tank to the bed....That would be a good candidate for a diamond plate tool box!...a really deep one! lol

everybody seem to miss the fact that he butchered a seemingly very nice short fleet metal floor, that is my biggest complaint. Those floors are getting to be as valuable a gold, and that one looked like it used to be nice.

Anyone wonder if this guy is a member in this website?

BTW, speaking of ruining another persons life with e-mail addys added to "different" sites, what are the MOST creative (destructive?) ways you have heard of a person being messed with over the I-net?

Just wondering - not sitting here sharpening an axe or anything

That truck is a beaut otherwise

Speaking of the metal floors, can't you use a metal floor from any GM fleetside pickup and trim it to fit the 67/72 trucks?

Re: please don't do this to your truck

Just a good idea gone bad. (Moving tank=good idea, way they did it=bad execution) Though anywhere you mount a tank there is bound to be problems. In my truck they put two saddle tanks in and that spot isnt protected from side impact. Tank in the rear not to well protected from rear impact. Its possible for a driveline to take it out of the driveline snaps but with a two piece I doubt that would ever happen. The biggest thing about is it the FUBAR factor.

Re: please don't do this to your truck

What I find ironic (STUPID) is that he took more time to mold the fillerneck in to the bed and body but not the time to really think about how it would really look. Stupid. I also find it wierd that he spent more money messing his bed up with that gas tank than it would of taken to just mount a fuel cell.
