Cylinder Head Question
Will heads off a 95 GMC 350 bolt on to my 69 GMC 350 without any hassle? I know you have to change the intake manifold for vortec heads, but those motors started in 97 with the multi port injection.
Only reason I am wondering is I can get these heads for free and know they are good to replace the messed up heads on my 69. Thanks in advance, Jr |

Yes they will bolt on your block but you will need a specific vortec style intake for the heads. A old style carb intake will not bolt on. If you do some research, you might find a vortec style intake that accepts a carb.
I am sure there are others that have more knowledge on this than I do. |

You'll also need the corresponding late model valve covers and rocker arms too.

Absolutely not the same. 95 heads are just tbi heads. The intake manifold will have 12 bolts (6 bolt holes on each head). The 96 vortec heads are the good hot rod heads which use an intake manifold with only 8 bolt holes (4 on each head).

I 2nd. the 95 ym heads will be the t.b.i. heads so just grab the valve covers and grind out the centers on the intake and your good to go. While the Vortec heads would produce the largest boost in performance,the free aspect of the tbi heads are very interesting. The tbi heads flow fairly well in their own right and are nothing to sneeze at for what they are, they are a pretty decent street flowing head. I have run some on motors that I have built in the past and they ran really well. Clean 'un up paint them orane and put them on and get back to cruzin!!!

Ok so there is just a little porting to be done? I'm not concerned with performance too much because I just want to cruise in it. I'm getting the whole engine free, long story, but it worked out in my favor. I'm going to probably build the rest of the motor into a mild 383.... I'll have to swap to electronic fuel pump and such, but want to run the truck while I build the motor, because it will take me a while. It used to be in my dads 95 and ran fine, just used about 1/2qt of oil every two weeks, so he swapped it and never sent it back for the core and he said I could just take it.
