Starter problems: Should I have a heat shield?
Hi guys, Just replaced my starter (previous starter was loud and sounded really bad) and it already failed last night...after only a few weeks! My truck had to return home on a flatbed last night

Re: Starter problems: Should I have a heat shield?
I would say that the starter you installed was faulty. I am not a big fan of over the counter starters and alternators. Look in the yellow pages, and see if there are any places that rebuild starters, electric motors ect.... You will get a much better product from them I'll bet. The heat shield is a good thing, but not that necessary. Not having one should not can your starter that fast.
