Dorman rams horns manifolds

It's been a while since I posted here, but wanted to share this with you guys:

Dorman makes a set of rams horns manifolds that angle rearward as used on small blocks in 67-72 trucks. They are P/Ns 674-201 and 674-199. The average price on the Internet is roughly $105-$115 (left side costs more than right side).

I just found a set at Amazon.com for $81 and $87 with FREE shipping! Just FYI, it always pays to search Amazon.com. A few years a go I found an Equus timing light that cost $170 at Summit Racing for around $110 + free shipping at Amazon.

However, they will match prices on new parts from competitors. They knocked off almsot 100.00 on my cooper cobras to match the price of some off the wall website from California. Just call them up when you find a better price.

If you're going to go to the expense of ordering nice new Dorman manifolds, I will go ahead and point out that Dorman carries the Corvette ram horn manifolds too. That gets you a nice 2.5 inch manifold instead.

I found a site that has these for $67.86. Great price.

Now the real question, since these dump straight down, will they clear the crossmember???

Yes, but have you tried to install a set in a truck with engine in the forward mounting position? They will probably dump straight down into the cross member.

By the way, Dorman now makes a 2.5" version with NO generator mounting boss, but it's $100+.

Re: Dorman rams horns manifolds

Bump back to see if anyone has an answer.

Can you use the Corvette ram horns in the forward V8 mounting position?

Re: Dorman rams horns manifolds

I think some have used them but it makes for a really tight turn to keep the exhaust pipe from dragging the ground is what I remember them saying.

What's the part no. of the 2.5 inch with no generator bosses? I really want that set up. I'm lifting my truck, so, as long as there will be no interference with the crossmember I am not worried about the head pipes hanging down really low.

Re: Dorman rams horns manifolds

I used the 2.5 Dorman manifolds on my Dad's 2wd truck...

I did have to get a Skip White High Torque Mini-Starter though to clear the exhaust on the way down from the manifolds...

Here are some pix:

Re: Dorman rams horns manifolds

few more...

The truck that I did the motor/trans swap from had the engine in this position already so the driveshaft came over with the swap...

Nice pics, really shows how well these manifolds fit. How do they perform?

Re: Dorman rams horns manifolds

I've been searching trying to find the answer.
This thread seems to be the newest on this subject so I will ask here.
Does anyone know where/how much/part number for the 2.5 Ram's horns that angle back for our trucks?
Do they even exist?
Thanks for any help.

Re: Dorman rams horns manifolds

I don't think 2.5" angled ram horn manifold exist. I think only the Corvettes got 2.5" and they are down dump.

Re: Dorman rams horns manifolds

Thanks Mike

The more I searched yesterday the more I thought I made it up in my little brain.
I kept seeing the 2.5 for straight down but not angled.
Thanks again.
