2.5/4 drop on a 83

Going to lower the 83 i din't want to drag everwhere i go .
Looking at the 2.5/4 drop kit is this a good looking stance ? Or should i go with the 4/6 drop ?
My son will be driving it everyday

A 2.5/4 drop with spindles, shackles, and hangers is the best no issue drop to do with a nice stance. A 4/6 drop would look a little better but you have to be much more aware of how you drive the truck. I drive daily with a 4/5 drop on 15in wheels, I just pay extra attention to bumps and driveway entrances and such. You might also consider a 3.5/5 drop.

Do you want 15s, 18s, or 20s?

Mine is dropped 2.5/4 with 255/70/15 tires on 8" rally wheels.

Love the stance, could you please give me the specifics of the parts that you used? I have an 86 in two tone blue.

I used Western Chassis 2.5" spindles and Western Chassis 4" drop leaves. I'm regretting the drop leaves now because I tow a trailer and the drop leaves reduce the towing and carrying capacity of the truck. If I was doing it again I would drop the rear with shackles and hangers. I was trying to avoid that because the shackles require you to cut the bed support if you have the short length leaf springs like I have.

Thanks, that is exacly why I was asking.

I was hoping not to have to cut the bed supports, but I tow also.
Sounds like I will be cuttin'

I always really liked your truck man, I am up for some new tires and was considering 255/70's, are you riding these on all for corners? Do you have a shot of the front tire to fender clearance?

Thanks! Your first black truck with the black vinyl bucket seats has always been one of my favorites on the board.

I have had the truck for 11 years now. The paint on it is getting pretty bad these days. I have inherited my father's ('37 Chevy Coupe hotrod) and father-in-law's (stock/restored '67 RS 327 Camaro) project cars since I began building it, so it doesn't get much of my time or money any more. I mostly just use it as a truck for hauling lumber, dirt, furniture, etc. for the old farmhouse I have been renovating for the last 18 months.

Yes, I have the same size tires all the way around. I don't have any photos of the front tires specifically, but I can tell you that they do not rub anywhere under any circumstances, possibly because I replaced the front springs with new stock ones when I lowered the front.

If you need a particular photo of the front wheels/tires, PM me (I'm only on the board sporadically...) with a description of what you want, and I'll try to get it to you.
