Question Tell me what you think about these wheels

I'm on the fence about using these wheels. I had turbines on a '64 K20 years ago & loved them. But now, on the '72- dunno. I might knock an inch or two of lift out of the rear also. My truck is rusty & rough- but I don't want it to look tacky. Keep in mind that if I use them, the 36" hummer tires will get replaced with 33 12.50's. I wouldn't like any of the newest styles of wheels on it, but???

They look sweet, I'd put a set on my truck if 33's for 16.5's were cheaper. I say use them.

There's a really cool compliment between the wheels and the tires. I say keep them!

Re: Tell me what you think about these wheels

Hey Jeff, The turbines look good,..... BUT......
If your interested.....I just traded for a set of American Racing Aluminum directionals. They are 16 x 10 and have a set of 33" Boggers on them. Two of the Boggers are pretty worn out, but the other two are decent. Let me know if your interested...you could just pick them up when you get the Blazer tub. I'd take $500 for them.
Here's a picture...of a picture taken 2 years ago, So the quality isn't very good, but it will give you an idea of what they look like.

I don't like them, I really do like the directionals better (post before this)

Re: Tell me what you think about these wheels

Slick71, I like those, but would set me back too far. I need to get going on this body. At least these old tires will get it off jackstands for now. It sure would be easier for me to just take that truck in your picture!

Re: Tell me what you think about these wheels

Jeff,
I've always liked the turbines...just thought I'd mention that I had some tires/wheels, in case you were interested! That photo is of my old 71 just before I sold it. The kid that bought it, just traded me the wheels/tires back and some cash for the 35's that I was trying to sell.
See ya soon!.....and the wheels do look Good!

Re: Tell me what you think about these wheels

I like them way more than any modern-style wheel. But,I`m stuck on period-correct.You younger fellers must realize there were only a few choices back then and it was somewhat rare to see an 8-lugger gussyed-up.Those wheels and slots were as trick as it got back then.AND!They still look great!!Those look in nice shape.I`ll take them if you don`t.For an unrestored truck, nothing looks better than wheels from the era.It looks like they`ve just been on there all along.I don`t like seeing expensive brand new wheels on a truck where there`s alot more cosmetics needed before bolting wheels on.

Re: Tell me what you think about these wheels

I think they are way cool, period correct is right!

As a comparison on a car, I recently saw a '79 Trans Am with modern 18s on it, the wheels looked way out of place imo...

Totally agree. My mom's '80 T/A has slot mags on it & looks great. They have been on it since the early '80s when she bought it. Hers are possibly actually magnisium? Kind of a dull silverish look no matter how much you work them over. Very tough to keep clean too.

Re: Tell me what you think about these wheels

The 36 inchers just barely clear the front fender forward "tip" on the stands. I took the bottom 2 leafs out of my 6 leaf stack to make it ride a little better. It didn't ride bad at all with 6- but should ride great with 4. Hmmn, u-bolts are not on or bought yet though...
