Rear Brake Questions?

Anyone know what this thing is? It was mounted where the rear Brake lines go to the axle, and it had one going into it. Ne er seen it before, and it was mounted on my 85ish k30 frame.

Re: Rear Brake Questions?

Looks like a load leveler. Adjusts the brakes according to rear load. Bypass it. It's worth less.

Re: Rear Brake Questions?

I will be bypassing it, as it looks old and questionable, but I never seen it. Now I just gotta figure out how to get my brake lines into my new dually axles while it's bolted on and with the wheels on it!

Correct.

It was added specifically to pass FMVSS brake testing in the days before ABS.

Re: Rear Brake Questions?

Yeah a pre abs thing and ford used something like that on some of their 80s cars.
