Smile replace 454 with 350 ps, ac, alt brackets

I have a 1982 GMC and it has a 454 I would like to know if I replace the 454 with a 350, if I will need any brackets or braces for the power steering, AC, alternator. The truck is not 4X4.

I would like to know so I can strat gathering all this stuff before I start the project. Are the braces, brackets the same (I doubt they are)?

I do know that I will have to use a 350 with heads that have the area for the brackets.

Any other issues or irdeas are appreciated.

Yes you will need all new brackets. When you start gathering,,, make sure you get either short water pump brakets to work with a short water pump or long water pump brackets to work with a long water pump.

I believe long water pump bracketry is most common but if start mixing long and short versions you will have fits trying to get it to work.

I would say your best bet is finding one donor vehicle and grabbing all the brackets from one vehicle. Junkyards, people parting vehicles, craigslist are all good sources.

I agree with what frank said. I have found short pumps on alot of the older motors but they are obviously not limited to that. A junkyard or a motor out of a similar year truck would give you all the needed brackets.

If it's possible try and get the engine and all of the brackets from one vehicle,,, that would be ideal for doing this swap. Then there shouldn't be any question if the brackets work with the chosen engine.
