Why would you sell it after buying it???? Anyway, it's probably got a 235 in it. It could be a 261 if it's not original.

Re: off truck topic ...but still a 53 chevy !

My grandpa went to Las Vegas in 1990. A 52 chevy 4 door custom deluxe with a six banger and powerglide followed him home. It still has the severely faded red paint (now an orange color) and blue interior. Odd mix of colors, but it's all original. I've looked this car up and down, inside and out, I could not find any rust ANYWHERE. Sadly, the car has only been driven a few times, but it is in dry storage (a nice garage with a cement floor.)

I thought 215's were the norm, and 235's are optional. Either way, they've got the sloshing "oil bath" style oil system. If you want to drive it a lot, upgrade to a 1954-1963 235. They look the same, but have a pressurized oil system.

How about some pictures! My uncle has an all stock 53, everything is original and it runs like a dream. Hopefully I can get some pictures of his on here soon.

Re: off truck topic ...but still a 53 chevy !

the engine in the 53 cars were 216's 235's in 54 cars. alot of the parts are interchangeable w/ the truck 216's the easiest way to tell it if the valve cover has 2 holddown nuts on top of or 4 screws holding it down, but the block is different as it is casted different on the account of the side motor mounts but other than that is about the same thing
