np 205 shifter

Can someone tell me if there is a difference between auto, 4 spd or 3 spd np205 shifters? If so, I have an automatic (th350) and need a shifter, can someone post a pic or tell me how to identify the correct one? Thanks!

Re: np 205 shifter

As far as I know, they are the same for 71-72s,but 70s (atleast the ones I've seen) and the newer trucks with 205s have a different shifter too.I don't believe they had different shifters depending on the tranny. Here's a pic of an original in my 71 K10.It (along with the Th350/Np205) was from a wrecked 72 CST Blazer. The lower optioned 4wds had the black shifters, and the higher optioned ones were the shiney ones..I may have (Might of sold it,don't remember) a 71-72 NP205 shifter laying around if you don't find one. It's just a black painted shifter though.

Re: np 205 shifter

I'm pretty sure that all the 71-72 shifters are the same offset to the passenger side. but I have a couple 69-70 model shifters that are more in the center of the hump 1 of which i bought from someone and 1 of which came off a 70 k-5 that i parted years ago it was an automatic. The 69-70 shifters have a smaller thread size 3/8 with a plain knob and the 71-72 shifters have 7/16 thread with the shift pattern embossed in the knob.I have 3 on e-bay right now I wish I had seen your post earlier I could have sold you one of mine.
