first of all you have to make provisions for the clutch pedal.
I cut the firewall in the 89 donor truck and welded it in place on my 69 c-10

then you have to cut the bottom of the cowl inside the cab so the clutch assembly will fit

then cut a hole in the floorboard. You can get the general idea from the placement in this picture

nest move the crossmember back about 3 inches
the bolt holes were predrilled in my frame. and cut a slot between the two holes in the bottom of the 350 crossmember so you can put the nv3500 trans mount through and have a bit of room for adjustments

a shortshaft 350 driveshaft works on a shortbed if you change the front yoke.
the Nv3500 is about the same size as a 350.

I put it behind a pre 87 small block so I had to get the older style flywheel to make it work

I suggest changing the clutch fork and the slave cylinder because these were week spots in the gm design. also make sure to use sycromesh in the tranny

Thanks for the report and the pictures. My crossmember is all the way to the front like it last had a smaller 3 speed in it. It looks to me I am going to have to take it back further, if it will even work. I will probally have to make or find one that will work.

I am using this tranny also. Do you have any pics of the pedal setup inside the truck? Did this tranny come out of a full size truck?(shifter location looks perfect) I have this tranny with a vortec 350 on tubular motor mounts in the v 8 position and I was able to use my stock driveshaft. My particular tranny came from a 4.3 s-10 so the shifter looks to sit further back than yours.
