Bogging, hesitation, and missing.

Need some help with troubleshooting.

250 L6 w. Manual

1. Generator warning light isn't working.
2. Motor runs rough. I have to nurse the pedal to get it to accelerate.
3. Last fall the battery was going dead.

All of this stuff points to an alternator that isn't working, at least in my mind. The one thing that is confusing me is the alternator warning light that isn't working. Is this just a bulb in the instrument panel, or does it mean something else is broken?

Re: Bogging, hesitation, and missing.

Put a mulit-meter on the alternator with the truck running. If it reads greater than 12 volts, then the alternator is fine. If the alt is bad, then like you said, I'd imagine the generator bulb in the guage cluster is burnt out if no fuses are blown.

It also sounds like something's going on with your carburetor. Your rough running and bogging are solid symptoms of a worn out or badly adjusted carb.

Just my two cents, if it'll help.
