Turbo fuel injected 292 inline six.

I figured some of you may be interested in this. You may remember I put a TR6060 six speed manual behind this motor. here is the thread on that. https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=718750

current project is SPA t3 turbo manifold. Turbonetics turbo. cheap fleabay intercooler. FI-tech 600hp power adder fuel injection as a blow through setup. the plan is start at 5psi. probably no more than 6-7psi at the most. I'm not looking for huge power. just some fun.

motor has about 3000 miles on it N/A. mains and rods are all ARP studded. bored .040. head was redone. all new valves. 1.94 intakes. it has a small Howards cam .502 lift. about 212 duaration at .050"

Everything is mock up stages right now. I hope to fire it up in a few weeks.

Sorry I couldn't figure out how to get the pictures to show up. but the links should work.

Very interested in the fuel injection. I can't read the brand in the pic...what are you running? FAST, Holley, or other? And what manifold?

FI-tech fuel injection. 600hp power adder version. manifold is an Offenhauser. Using a 2" 4 hole phenolic spacer to get it up high enough to run the hat over the valve cover.

Re: Turbo fuel injected 292 inline six.

Cool project man! If you end up having issues with tuning try to switch that spacer for a open center style one. I personally have never ran anything like this but some guys have had problems with the TBI style fuel injection not liking the 4 hole style spacer, seems they like to spray into an open plenum type of deal to mix the air and fuel or you end up with some odd dips and spikes in AF ratio and power.

EDIT: you might be fine, just saying if it seems like your having fuel issues try the spacer before thinking its the whole EFI setup.

here is a video, once again I don't know how to make it show up normal. the turbo sounds great here but its because it had a boost leak.

I ended up ripping the metal part of the driveshaft carrier bearing in half. and tore the driver side motor mount in half. new parts are on their way as well as the MSD pro billet distributor so I can use the FItech for timing control. boost is actually peaking at 11psi right now if i'm not careful. its a rocket ship for in inline six!

Re: Turbo fuel injected 292 inline six.

It sounds like you have the light duty driveshaft and carrier bearing? If so you might want to consider upgrading to the HD carrier bearing and driveshaft.

I would try a open spacer. It helps the carb or TBI in your case see the "pulses" if you will for a cleaner vacuum signal for better operation.

Also you can run safely up to 12 psi on a turbo because they work efficiently enough not to super heat the air up to around that point. Provided the turbo is not ridiculously small.

Lastly there are guys who supposedly take 2 sbc heads, and through the magic of heat + fire. Make a inline 6 head out of them.

Re: Turbo fuel injected 292 inline six.

Hey there. I realize this is an old post but I was just curious what you did for fuel return with your turbo setup?
Did you run a full length return line from the fitech or did you use a a shorter return style setup like the corvette style fuel filter /regulator?.
Thanks for any info. I'm about to start running fuel lines to my turbo 292im using a sniper efi though.
