Re: anyone used ALUMA CLEAR ?

No but I'd like to see if it works. I have some wheels with sandblasted centers that I'd like to keep that sparkly "just blasted" look.

Re: anyone used ALUMA CLEAR ?

I've used a product called "Shark Hide" on my polished aluminum wheels. It's a product that is sold at marine dealers for pontoon boats. It's a wipe on product and not at all like a clear coat that could peel. It seems to soak in to the metal not leaving a "coating" like clear coat does. I've had it on for about 4 years now.....no corrosion and no polishing! It did dull the finish slightly. But that was a great trade!!

Re: anyone used ALUMA CLEAR ?

I would imagine it works like powdercoat.A sandblasted intake with clearcoat powder grays real bad!,but a polished intake with clear powder is fantanstic!!!

Re: anyone used ALUMA CLEAR ?

I just used Alumaclear on my Torque Thrust wheels this past weekend and the results were way better than I expected. I have tried several different products including the Mothers Polishing Ball and cleaner but nothing worked very well. My wheels were not corroded at all, just really dull looking. The Alumaclear got them brighter than they have ever been.

It is no more difficult to use than any other product and the results are 10 times better. Don't get me wrong it is still time consuming, but the result is well worth it. I would recommend it to anyone. No harsh smell and I did mine by hand. I can only imagine the result if I would have used the Polishing Ball with it.

I really wish I had taken before and after pictures.

Re: anyone used ALUMA CLEAR ?

Just a follow up. I just used the Polish by itself and it was only $20 versus $60 for the kit.

Re: anyone used ALUMA CLEAR ?

I would also be interested in the Aluma Polish. The advertisement says it removes oxidation and brings back the shine. That sure would be nice. I haven't found anything that will remove oxidation.

I took some pic's but evidently they are too large to download. As soon as I figure it out, I'll get 'em posted for you.

Re: anyone used ALUMA CLEAR ?

I dunno..."easily removed" is in the description. The surface of polished aluminum won't really bond with anything other than oxidation so no matter what goes on it will always need to be re-applied. I think for wheels, there are some good paste waxes out there that cost ALOT less.

Re: anyone used ALUMA CLEAR ?

I have done some "research" on the diffrent aluminum pollishes and found that the cheapest and lowest cost is a DIY that I picked up on the internet. All you need is GREEN joulers paste, mineral spirits, and a good liquid wax. Melt down the green pollish with a electric burnner and a old pan (don't boill), add some mineral spirits to thin out, pour some spirits into aother jug so it won't overflow when you add the pollish, pour the mixture back into the mineral spirits can, add the wax into the mixture (you can skip the wax and put on after as well), shake before and durring use to keep mixed. I have used this for 5 or more years on my alumanum boat, wheels, and fuel tanks and it works very well. If you have somthing that is in need of heavy cutting you can use a diffrent gritt of pollish. Give it a try.

Re: anyone used ALUMA CLEAR ?

It took me about about an hour per wheel doing it by hand. I took the tires and wheels off the truck and put them on my bench. It makes it a lot easier rather than trying to polish them on the truck. Like I said earlier, it is time consuming but not difficult at all. Most of the time you spend on them will be spent doing the nooks and cranny's.

I know some of you are still on the fence about this product, so let me say this. I am 52 years old and I have been doing modifications and restorations since I was about 19. I have seen products come and go and have heard and seen all of the outrageous sales pitches and claims that companies make to get you to buy their product. I fell for some of them and found out that they were just a waste of my money and time.

I did not see an advertisment for Alumaclear. I was online looking for SOMETHING that would brighten up my wheels and some how stumbled onto their website. After reading about it for a while I decided, what the hell. Let's give it a try. It either works or or this will be yet another learning experience in not beleiving everything you see.

This is the first product I have bought in years that actually works as good as it claims. Now I don't know where some of you guys are coming up with statments like "You will never have to touch them again". When I got mine in the mail and read the directions, this is what I remember: "Once you have applied the product, do not wash the wheel with anything but water for 30 days. After 30 days, coat the wheel with any brand of car wax."

I never saw any claims that you never have to touch the wheels again. If you want your wheels to shine, you have to use some elbow grease. It's as simple as that. There is not a product out there that you can simply spray on, walk away and come back and have nice shiney wheels!

Re: anyone used ALUMA CLEAR ?

what the rep told me that i was talking to was that after you polish them with their polish you apply the Aluma Clear that coats the wheels to keep you from having to repolish them !
