led headlights

i was wondering if any of you guys have seen anything like this http://www.mustangproject.com/Produc...0-6e0f476cd709 for a 68 chevy. i think they look cool but i have been looking all over and all i find is HID's please help

I have seen these available thru the offroad forums I am on too.

IIRC they were in the $600-$700 per pair range. Not cheap, hence not many people who have them. Hope that helps.

thanks. my buddy found them for $300 but cant remember where he seen them, but i idk i could be wrong but from what i herd and understand they would work better and be easier to do then going for the HID's

wyathnt... those lamps in the link you posted above are claimed to fit any standard 7" round headlamp application, so they should work in your '68 Chevy.

How effective they are, or if they are worth the asking price, is anyone's guess.

does anyone know much about going HID? i want bright lights, because i have a hard time seeing at night (i know that sounds like everyone) but any info would be awsome.

Those 7" LEDs in the link say nothing about Hi/low beam.

I think they look badass myself. However I have no experence personally with them, and the price tag is waaay out of my budget. For that kind of money I can do alot instead of led headlights.

If you are worried about brightness, I HIGHLY recommend running relays for your headlights, as they made a huge difference in my light output. I replaced my headlights with Sylvania Silverstar sealed beams, and they with the relays are easily twice as bright as the old sealed beams, and not really much money. Best bang for the buck mod have done to my truck.

You can always do HIDs, and they arent hard either. All you need is composite headlights, the kind you can swap the little H4 bulb out in, and a HID H4 bulb kit. pretty much plug and play on most setups, or very little wiring at most. Now some people will tell you that to properly run HIDs, you need a projector style headlight housing in order to not scatter the light and blind oncoming traffic, and to focus the beam properly. Im not going there and getting into that argument, but I have HIDs on my daily and didnt use projectors, and the light output is awesome, and I dont have people flashing their lights at me thinking I have my brights on. Maybe because its lowered too?

I guess to sum it up, the led headlights are cool, but waaay over priced. Let them come down a little bit or I decide to build some super high dollar ride, and I would consider running them. They definatley are not something you see every day. But for me, there are other cheaper options that offer great light output, and allow me to use the remaning funds for other mods.

I have 4300K HID's in my '05 and I will NEVER go back! the light output is simply amazing and I don't have any issues with brighting others with the low beams, but the fogs blind people if I am not careful. For $80 shipped for both sets and about 20 mins to install you can't go wrong.

The 7" round L.E.D. headlights have 10 high-wattage L.E.D.'s that are strategicly aimed so that when on low beam only 5 of them are illuminated (top half of bulb) and on high beam all 10 are lit up.
Truck-lite offers this same style in fog & auxillary driving lights as well.
Me, I'm hoping they come out with L.E.D. headslights in the large rectangular style for my '90 suburban

Have to agree that these are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over priced. We use the 24v versions in the military and they dont last as long as they should, they are truck lite brand also.

Here is everything you need for under a 100.00$ just note when you order ur bulbs you will need h4 style bulb.you don't have to use these housings these are just the ones i used in my camaro i have hid's in everything i own. if you dont like these housings just search ebay ANY 7 inch housing will work whether it says ford Chevy jeep etc... this is info for hid's not the lights u originally posted

I would not go with a LED setup. From my experience with LED flashlights it is very hard to get a good focused beam from the LED. Maybe they have solved this problem but I would check into that before I purchased LED headlights.

I wanted some brighter lights for mine so I just got the eurolights, heavy duty harness and Xenon lights through LMC. Instillation was just plug and play (no cutting or splicing anything) and I love them. They have the HID blue tint to them and with the high beams on, you can see just as far as projector lights. Way better than those original sealed beams and it only cost me around $120 for everything.

Isn't the relay upgrade pretty much a prerequisite for any of these upgrades, be it LED HID or otherwise? Seems getting a strong and steady power source to the lights would be the way to go for any application.

Pretty much, it keeps a lot of power from running through your stock headlight switch which is always a good thing.
